March is Newpark Clinic’s Sleep Apnoea Awareness Month!
Our new snoring and sleep apnoea treatments help reduce symptoms and let you sleep at ease!
There are three types of Sleep Apnoea. The most common type is called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea “OSA” followed by the less common Central Sleep Apnoea and Mixed Apnoea. OSA is caused by the soft tissue in the back of the throat collapsing and flopping closed. This then results in a blockage that prevents normal breathing. Males between 30 and 50 years of age are most affected, but anyone can suffer from this disorder. People who smoke, drink alcohol or are obese are at a much higher risk.
Presently, there are approximately 6,500 – 7,500 people diagnosed in Ireland with OSA. However, the European Union medical research indicates that there are approximately 95,000-105,000 people in Ireland suffer from OSA. These can range from mild to severe cases.
Find out if you are one of the 105,000 people suffering from OSA/snoring in Ireland with a free consultation during March! Not sure if you have OSA? Try our at home test kit to determine your severity.
